Stumptown Footy Community Protected List: Adin Brown Edition
Here we go again! Don't forget to check out the other players in the Community Protected List section.
How it works:
- For each player we will post a front page article highlighting a specific players pros/cons and any stats (if available)
- Vote by posting a Yes (to Protect) or No (don't Protect) in the subject of a comment, then explain why in the message
- We (the editors) will keep track of all the yes/no votes for each player
- At the end of the whole roster we will total up the results and post the community's Protected list
- Your list will be compared to the list of each contributing editor
- The only player we will not be voting on is Darlington Nagbe as he is automatically protected based on his Generations Adidas Status.
Adin Brown
Info
Adin is in his 7th year in the MLS (he played for the Tampa Bay Mutiny!) but this was his first year back after a semi-succesful stint in Europe. He is currently making $76,000 in salary.

Cons
Has had a string of injuries the past three years that has severely limited his playing time and towards the end of the year he was supplanted as a back up by Jake Gleeson.

So should do we Protect him or do we leave him unprotected? Remember vote with Yes or No in the subject line.

Just because Montreal will not pick him. He’s still good to hold on to otherwise.

No
Not the present, not the future, not on the protected list.

Perkins is the present, Gleeson is the future. Brown is one of the less-likely people taken should we lose anyone, but there are more important people to protect well above his position.
Blazers win!

He wont be chosen… He seems like a real nice guy, I bet he adds to the locker room vibe in ways we will never know. I wouldn’t mind having him around again, always good to have an older head around with such a young team.
No.
I assume his best value for the Timbers this year was coaching Gleeson. Should not pay him $76K for that though when we have a GK coach already.
No
He’s good to hold on to, but if Montreal wants him I’m sure we’d figure out a way to replace him.

and please find a new voiceover guy at the same time because the one they use in those spots is godawful

Not only that but the overall commercial....
is just plan awful.
Contributing editor to Stumptown Footy the Portland Timbers SBN blog.
All local commercials in any market anywhere are awful, so I can overlook that part of it
but at least get a competent voice over person to mitigate the awfulness somewhat.
Did you see how sure-handedly he handled the ball in that commercial?
That gave me pause when casting my vote here.

God bless you Adin. I liked having a guy on the team who looked like he could have been our lumberjack mascot.
I bet most of us will protect Gleason. But I imagine most teams don’t protect two keepers, let alone three.

No, but
I would still rate him our number 2 keeper until Gleeson gets a bit more seasoned. Unlike most, I was not overly impressed with Gleeson when he played earlier this season.
Interrogation Cop: What are you saying?
Fenster: I said he'll flip you.
Interrogation Cop: He'll what?

Yes
Easily the most valuable guy on the team. If he hadn’t been hurt, he would’ve been the Supporters Player of the Year for sure.

When I'm bored I read your self-love on Twitter. I love the First World.
Good to have at least one dissenting vote for each player
