Young DP player signed soon. world-class potential..big addition for us and league. turning 20 soon. no announce until ITC approved #RCTID

Via Merritt Paulson's twitter.

Word on the street is that it is José Adolfo Valencia. I believe he would be the youngest DP in the league, though correct me if I'm wrong.

Still... very exciting!

He's not the youngest

Fabian Castillo (also of Colombia, also on that U-20 team) is younger (19, Bday in summer), signed as a DP last year (in name, I believe his salary was just $42k) for Dallas.

His team confirmed it

IDK their exact twitter handle but his club, Santa Fe posted that he would play for the Timbers in 2012

And many before me as well

But good on Geoff for treating it very much as a rumor until it is confirmed by multiple sources. And we know the Timbers organization won’t hesitate to confirm once the deal is official.

I never confirm

… without multiple trusted sources telling me the exact same thing. :)

Good policy.

Let the masses report vague rumors in excess but officially report when there’s solid evidence. I believe that’s the same way as the Bedge works

I agree

I know my title was misleading in my fanshot. However I do like to post links to rumors and say “these are rumors”

Excellent

A striker with ball control skills. What we need; more ball control and passing skills, I do not see Cooper or Perlaza as being able to create their own shots, so anyone we can get to generate more ball movement and offense is a good signing.

What makes the Timbers, and our owner, Mister Paulson, exciting is they have a plan and they are jumping in both feet first in the off-season to rebuild the team for next season.

Videos soon, I hope.

The little train!

His father was “the Train” and played for Columbia national, Bayern Munich, and Atletico Madrid.

Im glad we have signed a young dynamic striker . Way to go front office! Now lets get another wing and a premier defender at any spot and we will be much better than last year. I think Nagbe will end up being our attacking midfielder when its all said and done.
