FSC Broadcasting 5 Additional Portland Timbers Games
All that "will they, won't they" speculation comes to an end today as MLS and Fox Soccer Channel have jointly announced a renewed commitment through the 2011 season, at which point negotiations will begin anew. As such, the actual deal works out so that FSC will broadcast and additional 31 MLS regular season games and three exclusive play-off games.
For the Timbers this means an additional 5 nationally broadcast games:
- Sat., Mar 19 at Colorado Rapids 6 p.m. FSC, Local TV
- Sat., Apr 23 at LA Galaxy 8 p.m. FSC
- Fri., May 6 Philadelphia Union 7:30 p.m. FSC
- Sat., Aug 20 Vancouver Whitecaps 7 p.m. FSC, TSN
- Fri., Sep 16 New England Revolution 8 p.m. FSC

Not sure how I feel about this
It means I’ll have to go to a bar to watch these games since Frontier charges an arm and a leg for FSC.
"I have something 95 percent of all those All-Stars only wish they had: a World Series ring. If I had to choose between that and being an All-Star, it would be no contest. I’d grab the gold ring and never look back." -Tim Salmon
And then you will learn
That even though they say HD, it is really more accurately LD. But you are definitly better off using the money for beer at a bar than to pay for FSC.
Hello, four games to illegally stream.
I write for Stumptown Footy, SB Nation's Portland Timbers blog.
Four or five sites up my sleeve.
Unfortunately, if on campus, they limit my download speed if I break 2gigs in 24 hours.
Jag kom, jag såg, erövrade jag.
Plan accordingly.

Be at home, and fight with my son over watching Thomas the Train or Portland Timbers

Nyquil naptime.
Problem solved.

I've already made some solutions by splitting the laptop screen
Thomas on one side, my work on another.
I’ve also hooked it up to my TV and did dual screen stuff as well.
Jag kom, jag såg, erövrade jag.
This is awesome for me
as I live in Indiana, and otherwise wouldn’t get to see too many Timbers games televised. Hopefully it ends up working well for the club.
Just FYI
MLS Match Day Live costs $40 and provides very high quality internet streams for any non-nationally broadcast game. Using this you should be able to catch every Timbers game not on FSC or ESPN.

Wow
Had no idea about that. That’s almost painfully affordable.

So we have
1 espn match
3 espn2 matches
5 fsn matches
that is awesome national coverage.
Any word who is carrying the local coverage?
"Oh Yeah!" ~ Kool Aid Man
Change your tune.
Depending on your announcer you may be wishing you did not have so many national games. The announcers are annoying in my opinion.
well, as I don't even know if the matches are going to be aired locally
or by whom or what our announcers will even be like I am nt sure I can be all that dissappointed in the quality of national broadcasters, at least yet!

I heard
On Talk Timbers that there will be local coverage and most likely it will be on Fox. What they are waiting for is to announce the announcer at the same time. John Strong says this " it is getting closer(to an announcement)…….I don’t when I don’t know who. The team is close to an agreement with a very well pedigreed soccer analyst, for the analyst on TV"
