Trip to Qwest Field: "We Are Timbers Army" video included
I had the good fortune to take the trip to Seattle yesterday. Man, what a blast. I recommend that you join the Timbers Army and go on these road trips. We killed the keg by the rest stop in Centralia on the Lompoc Brewery bus. Thanks for the Kick Axe Lompoc guys!
From Flounder pinnate, to singing "We Are Timbers Army" as we entered Qwest Field to watching dissappointed and angry Seattle fans walk off with a draw on their home field, it was all great fun. Look for TA members that were on the Lompoc bus in an upcoming adidas ad as there was a director there shooting ofr the commercial set. It is a new light bright blue shoe.
I must say the rain probably quieted us down a little bit, but not much.
Here is some video from the tunnel entering Qwest Field, this will pump any Timbers Fan UP!!!:
Some observations. Gotta give The Emerald City Supporters Group some credit, that was some massive tifo. Honeslty though it was pretty unoriginal, very professionally produced and did not work immediately as it got tangled up. For a minute or two there I thought it said "Decades of Finance" which was puzzling. Does their FO make this for them?
Their actual supporters section is shockingly small. There is the entire south end dedicated to the supporters group, but really only the section behind the goal is the only active section. The Timbers Army at home truly does blow these guys out of the water. No contest.
We were loud we were proud the entire match from pre-game to our exit about 1/2 an hour after the match. The only time we could here the Shittle fans at all was on their "Shittle - Flounders" thing and "You Suck A**hole" on goalie kicks. That really is pathetic when you consider there was only 500 hundred of us, 36,000 other people should have been able to drown us out easily.
Anyway the recap posted was quite good, although I thought Nagbe had a better night than he got credit for in that write up, otherwise I agree with that assessment. It did feel that the game was a bit rigged because, in the second half, there was a foul call on every Shitle dive (a dive allowed them to keep possession on the score). Our players were a little tentative out of the gate in the second half, but the ref contributed to that.
Having watched the game on DVR, I am not so sure, but that Cooper drag down in the box sure looked as if we should have been awarded a PK there too. It felt sort of rigged at that point.
The goal shook them out of it though. It really was a good match. I will definitely take the point, can't wait till July to put 3 points up on them!
Futty is the man. Anyone know any football chants from Gambia?
Alright guys, I don't believe I have to say this but, just in case, please do not submit anything racist, homophobic, sexist or otherwise not appropriate for even the younger Timbers fans.

Nice write up,
I also thought Darlington played better than he was given credit for. He had great runs and kept possession well. Other than the 3 or so dangerous runs Zizzo made, I thought Nagbe played better overall.
Mike Rice: "Camby nearly rejected that with his Armpit!"
Mike Barrett: "Now that would be a fragrant foul."
I thought Nagbe got knocked off the ball way too easily
Could just be him getting acclimated after sports hernia surgery still, but he seems light on the ball. Zizzo has the experience and it was his run that contributed to the set piece for Futty’s goal I believe. Nagbe’s best role may be as a super sub, but not sure how well that would sit with the front office.
As for the video, damn you!!! Sooooo wish I had gone. Oh well, thanks for making us who couldn’t make it feel like we were there with ya. I was also surprised as to how loud the TA was on tv, but now that you mention it, ECS didn’t have much outside of a couple 3-4 sections behind the goal if memory serves. Great to have this rivalry back, way to take a point, now get 3 from Columbus and let’s keep this train rolling Timbers.

it is more lik a section and a half
for the ECS. I thought there would be more….

Oh
and I could see Zizzo starting over Nagbe, not because of any shortcoming in Nagbe’s game, he helps our possession tremendously, someting we were real eak on eary in the season. I just think Zizzo’s quicker game might compliment Perlaza earlier in the game. Perlaza gets gassed and is tired by the time Zizzo sees the filed.

Exactly
i think Zizzo can create with his speed and service something better for KFC and Perlaza to feast on. Darlington is a gut buster with his speed and moves, may need to train for a different role at this level than what he had at Akron. I appreciate what he’s going through, and think his transistion may even be eased with 20-25 minutes a game of all out sprinting and attacking. Full 90 pacing may not favor him in his current condition right now.
As for Ryan’s post below, I think you were spot on with Nagbe. Criticism is what it is, doesn’t mean you think we should cut him or get rid of him in any machination.

May be biased
But I felt Nagbe was flopping or at least over exagerating fouls a lot. I have not watched on TV yet so maybe it is was just my perspective.
Scoreboards, not billboards.
Regular season, not pre-season.
And which Flounder player DIDN'T flop
good lord it seemed as if some of your guys could not walk or even stand.
Your goal came on a possession retained solely by a flop!
And don’t me started on your guy dragging cooper down in the penalty area. That should most assuradely been a penalty kick! (I know I contradicat myself above but IDC)

I know the flounder fan brought it up
i try not to complain about such things usually, but when the opponent charges my guy with it I will fire back

Nagbe
I agree I might have been hard on Nagbe when I first posted but it sure looks like something is bothering him a little. I really believe he has helped tremendously with the possession as PDXBuckeye points out and it might be even better to have that possession later in the game. However having Zizzo to just blaze by people (by the way if you wander over to Sounder at Heart some of them thing Zizzo dove to create the free kick we scored on) when they have tired legs.

The video does not work for me...
Cannot wait to see it though!
it is cool
we were actually louder than that, but the mic on my phone could not handle the volume…

oh what a night!
I was there with 34 of my friends as we rolled up on Amtrak, we were in section 328 across from the TA. I can tell you that the Flounders fans were not happy with us, many of beers thrown on us, food, etc. as we entered through the main entrance on the North end of the stadium.
Just an incredible event to be able to witness first hand. We got some vids of us firing up chants leaving the stadium down the spiral ramp, I will try and post one when they are sent to me.
Also, when we got into the station and walked to our hotel, we chose the wrong route and walked by the bar with the ECS getting their pints in. They didn’t appreciate our “friendly” banter and about 15 of their firm followed us for two blocks looking for a scuffle. Fortunately a cop walked out of a coffee shop in between the two groups and that ended that.

They spent $6 dollars just to throw beer at you?
Glad you all were safe.
Reminds me of getting punched in Paris by drunk Parisians.

Beer
is closer to $10 bucks, not $6.

ON tv
The TA was loud and clear. i couldn’t believe the breaks the ECS takes. there were long periods of silence on their part.
The ref did a good job. He missed a few calls but was spot on and did not fall for some obvious diving from the sounders.
We came out shaky in the 2nd half and we paid for it.
Overall I think because of the weather and worst field in the MLS it added up to some ok .
The field at Qworst is and embarrassment to the league.
With UW moving in to Qwest for a season
I don’t see a replacement being made until 2013 at the latest. Also, consider who will have primary influence on the type of turf because it will not be Paul Allen’s least valued toy in that stadium.
Jag kom, jag såg, erövrade jag.
He did fall for
some of Nagbe diving however.

If you are going to play that game
Then I will start calling Montero for Diving. He got bumped by Jewsbury and went down like he was shot.
The two things you can’t change are the Ref and the Weather and there is no use complaining about either.

Observations from section 138
…across from the TC, 20 yd line, close-ish:
> Could hear the TA from across the field and sometimes I could chant along when it was quiet
> “team name sucks”, you suck ass.., chants got really annoying quickly
> “seattle-sounders” chant loses points on originality but loud (they do the chant right before their goal and Perkins was saying that there was a miscommunication because it was loud…draw your own conclusions)
> stadium clap is kinda cool
> Qwest is twice as big as JW but didn’t feel it the way the seating rakes away from the field…JW is way more intimate
> Interesting observation after watching the broadcast the next day was that ESPN didn’t even hint at the crowd booing at Timber substitutions. It was very loud from where I was. Could be mic placement…
When watching the game I shouted in the bar upon hearing the "Seattle Sounders"
It’s the 3rd minute and they’ve ran out of chants!
[when normally viewing their games, I don’t hear that usually until about 20 mins in. Using it so early just makes it passé very quickly]
Jag kom, jag såg, erövrade jag.
its all they had
and we were in full throat in the TA section. They had to pull out their big gun early and often to offer any counter to us. I hope by the time Shittle comes to JW that the entire stadium gets in on the call response “You Can’t Stop Us We Are the Rose City”

To make sure, we'll just have an Army takeover of the Library and Club sections
Then there will be no error :)
Blazers win!
well it has already reached the point where it is insanely loud.
On the TV broadcast the announcers were almost drowned out by the call and response and that is only with a portion of th stadium responding!! It will be epic we get the whole stadium involved

We do not need any help
I sit in and sometimes stand in 119 and it is just getting louder and louder every game. You do not need to worry about us. We will be ready.
