Timbers Tid Bits: Guadeloupe Edition
Tonight the U.S. Mens National Team will take on Guadeloupe in the last game of the CONCACAF Gold Cup. Unfortunately, it's not one I'm sure the Nats can win given their craptacular performance against Panama this past weekend. But I'd like to be proven wrong...
Here's the morning news.

Dislocated shoulders suck but are pretty easy to bounce back from
I dislocated my shoulder in a bicycle wreck when I was about 16, and have broken bones in multiple crashes since then. Nothing I will ever experience will be more painful than that separated shoulder. I can’t even describe how awful it was. But the nice thing is about a week later it’s more or less fine, other than a little aching.
BMO
I have to say… first I find it odd that BMO would sponser the field for Toronto and the jersey for Montreal. And what I found even more odd was after 4 years of hearing about BMO field I never once asked what BMO was. I had no idea it was a bank. I am not sure if that just says they are ineffectively advertising or I am just not in their target market.

They sponsor the stadium and the kit for Toronto.
And even though its the Bank of Montreal they are throughout Canada. Seeing how you don’t live there you probably aren’t in their target market. Montreal’s stadium and kit sponsor is Saputo a food brand in Canada which makes sense as the Saputo family owns the Impact. Don’t know if they will remain the sponsor when they go to MLS. I imagine if they get a sponsorship deal like Vancouver got with Bell the Saputo family has to take it.
According to the article above
BMO is the kit sponser for Montreal too.

Gaudalupe
I understand the need to be polite about an opponent, so maybe that is all it is. But there is no excuse for a nation of 300 million to lose to guadalupe (not even a nation of 400K.
We better not lose.

How big your country is
has no impact on how good your international squad is. If that mattered, China and India would be perennial contenders.
No impact.
Seriously? I am not saying it is all there is to who is better, I am merely saying that a country that has nearly 300:1 the population has a such a sizeable advantage that it is pathetic if we lose.

The population of Spain is 46 million against the US' 310ish million
We should TOTALLY beat Spain every time we play them. And those English, with their paltry 51 million? A fly on the windshield.
wait what
It already matters
If 2% of our athletes go to soccer we have more good soccer athletes than if 100% of their athletes chose soccer. Size matters.
Scoreboards, not billboards.
Regular season, not pre-season.
since we are jumping to extremes...
I will just admit you are right and say that a Soccer City USA team could compete against a Team USA squad since the size of the population you are pulling from apparently has no importance in the quality of your team.
Scoreboards, not billboards.
Regular season, not pre-season.
Your original statement did not take quality of team into account, only population
I was trying to point out how absurd that was.
Spencer pointed out that an offside call should have been made on Colorado’s goal and that a handball in the penalty box went unnoticed as well.
From one of the articles above.
Interesting. I think I remember the handball, but was Moor offsides on that goal? Now that I think about it, it did seem that way.
USMNT to win tonight
When our backs are against the wall, we deliver. Come on you yanks!
