PrintI hope everybody had a fantastic holiday weekend. Despite the Timbers losing Saturday at home... again... I personally had a great weekend. It was just unfortunate that the Fourth this year happened upon a Monday which means it was a pretty tame holiday. Oh well. Looking ahead to this week, the Timbers will host Club America in a friendly. Should be fun. Sunday, however, is where the real battle begins with the Seattle Sounders coming down for mid-day game. Should be fun!

It's amazing how much of a role confidence plays in sports
After the first goal, the Timbers looked a little hesitant, like they knew it was going to get ugly. After the second, they looked beaten. After Nagbe’s goal, suddenly, they looked like “hey wait a minute we can win this thing”. They didn’t, but the difference in tempo and demeanor was very noticeable. I’m not sure how a team on a six game winless streak can be expected to play against a team who hasn’t lost in seven, but if the Timbers play on Sunday like they did in the second half, it will be a good game.
At this point, I hope the Timbers play nothing but scrubs against CA on Thursday to give the first team a chance to be as well rested as possible for Sunday.
