We're Looking for a New Contributing Editor!
Stumptown Footy is now actively looking for a new contributing editor to help us patch some of the editorial holes that Ryan and I just can't seem to get to on a weekly basis (jobs and social lives... damn you for taking up so much time!).
Essentially what we need is for somebody to do at least one training report each week, meaning you'd get to go to the training sessions and interview John Spencer and the players. Figure out who's who and what's what.
Additionally, we're looking for somebody who can do a bit of post-game analysis as well. Currently we do a match review, but we are looking to expand that coverage a bit to give our readers a better idea of what to expect.
This is not a paid position, but there are certain advantages. First you're stuff will be read by thousands of Timbers fans each week (no joke, our traffic is pretty decent). Second, you'll gain cool access to the Timbers as a member of the press (fancy!). Gloat to all your friends about how you've talked to this player or that coach! Fun times!
In return, all we ask for is ~3 articles each week (more is better!).
If you're interested his the link above and fill out the form. I'll be doing "call" (email) backs next week.
If you have any questions sound off in the comments below.
Applicant MUST be based in the Portland metro area.

Honestly, this is a pretty cushy gig.
You can write things when you want to, about what you want, and Geoff’s not going to be difficult, regardless. I neglected the hell out of it and I apologize, but one of you certainly has the potential to fill the spot one hell of a lot better than I ever did.

I know there's no salary but I'm betting there's a fat expense account I can use, right? Right?
If I didn’t have a day job I would be so all over this.
Very Cool
The training one sounds especially awesome. Sometimes I really wish the U of O was in Portland.
Say what you want about America, thirteen bucks still gets you a hell of a lot of mice!
Good god that would be horrible because then there'd be even more insufferable UO fans here than there already are
(disclaimer: I did not go to a Pac 10 school)
(sorry hemogoblin, you’re one of the good ones)

More Californians too
But then again, if we start losing again(by which I mean a “mere” 7-8 wins) all those hats will go away.

Don't worry about the insufferable UO fans. Oregon's run of football success is pretty unsustainable in the long-term.

There is a UO campus in Portland!
(And a lot of journalism majors go up there; I would but I love my job way too much.)
And pdb is totally right. It would ruin the living hell out of Portland.

I would offer my services
if I knew anywhere close to enough about soccer to actually contribute, and if I had a car to get down to the stadium regularly.
But seeing as how neither of those apply, I doubt I’d be of much use.
