Timbers Tid Bits: Play Off Push Edition
With last night's win the Portland Timbers have proven that they're still very much interested in getting into the play offs this year. A couple weeks ago I had (almost) counted them out entirely. I don't think I've ever been happier to be proven wrong. Of course, the race isn't over yet. The Timbers have a lot of fighting left to do to actually secure a spot. Still, if they can manage a couple road wins (one this weekend against DC United would be a great start!) and finish at home unbeaten from now until then they should have a solid position in the play-offs this year. Stay optimistic...
Enjoy your afternoon news!

NFL Considered Proposal for Competing Pro Soccer League
Okay, I don't normally link to the Bleacher Report (blech!) but this is pretty interesting, if true. Fun read, regardless... I can only imagine how horribly this would have failed.

Also, hope I'm not hi-jacking the thread
But Joey is up for the finals in the MLS Best Mascot poll and the Flounders are throwing the vote. We can’t let that happen to our Joey, who is worlds ahead in coolness than Columbus’ stuffed kitty.
Vote now, and then vote and vote some more! No limit!
Blazers win!
Really?
Are they that desperate?

They must be... There were already more votes combined when I put in my first
than in any other single poll yet. Someone doesn’t want Joey to win, and you can bet Columbus fans aren’t behind it
Blazers win!
The speed at which votes are coming in for Joey is funny.
About 4 votes a second right now.

Hurricane Irene is coming, so I can understand why they are anxious.
That said, if they cancel the first timbers game I am going to, I’m going to be upset.
