The Lumberyard: Off-Week Time Wasters
Hey everybody, I hope things are going well as you scrounge around the ESPN3 replays and ready yourself for international friendlies during the upcoming week and a half. I'm pretty excited about the USMNT friendlies coming up; it's always nice to see what a fresh pair of eyes can do for a team, and I want to see if they can continue to build off of the momentum from the second half against Mexico a few weeks back. When it comes to the Portland Timbers' long time off I've got to say that I sort of like having the extended break, as it gives us a chance to ready the troops for one final push.
ON TO THE LUMBERYARD
Alright, so we've got some time off from passionately rooting for the Timbers. What will you be doing after the reserves match on Thursday? Finally getting around to watching Breaking Bad? Continuing with your efforts to re-watch every season of The Wire (a New Year's resolution of mine)? Picking up one of those weird paper things that has glue binding it together and words printed all over it?
I'm going to pretend that I won't be completely vegging-out this weekend in the clutches of a NCAA football (American football, folks) binge, so what should I do after the Friday night USMNT friendly against Costa Rica?
Any and all reading, watching, listening or playing suggestions welcome. Did you see the new FIFA preview? Does that look awesome, or is it pretty much just more of the same?

Da Rules:
The Lumberyard is here to give the entire site a place for true non-soccer conversation and random thoughts. Its purpose: A place where people can come and chat about all the stuff that doesn't fit in with the rest of the site, and even be loose in terms of byplay and humor. The goal of the Lumberyard is to foster c
ommunity; to let people get to know each other outside of the everyday front page posts. There will be happy ones, sad ones, ones like a sharing circle, and ones like an open mike night at the comedy club. In the Lumberyard, people really have a chance to become a family.
So, if you have a one-off thought, post it in here. The rules are basic, and are as follows:
- Ad hominem (personal) attacks will never be tolerated.
- Everything you write is visible publicly, so be careful.
- Don't use the Lumberyard to call out or talk about users from other threads on Stumptown Footy.
- Remember that every image posted will slow the thread down, so try to post as few as possible. Posting a link to an image you want to share is an acceptable alternative, and thus can share as many images as you wish without slowing down the thread. If you do post an image in the thread, please post something in the subject line so that the image stays mimimized.
- Most importantly, HAVE FUN!!!
Alright guys, I don't believe I have to say this but, just in case, please do not submit anything racist, homophobic, sexist or otherwise not appropriate for even the younger Timbers fans.

I got to use the phrase "juke the stats" in a meeting today and it was the most exciting part of my entire day
I really need to re-watch The Wire again
Season 4 of The Wire is the best season of any show in television history.
Just flipped past Beverly Hills 90210 on tv,
the kid that played Michael from season 4 is on it. He got out of Baltimore and made it to Southern California. I hope he took his brother Bug with him ;)
Yeah, Season 4 of the Wire is just amazing from beginning to end.
Season 4
That’s a great season, but my favorites are season 1 and 3.

My time Wasters are:
Leverage, Eureka, and Warehouse 13. My other time wasters are League of Legends and Kongregate.com
Contributing editor to Stumptown Footy the Portland Timbers SBN blog.
Most of which I would like to do, but can't
I have managed to try to squeeze in playing Majora’s Mask on the Wii. Bought it a few months ago have yet to finish it.
Jag kom, jag såg, erövrade jag.
Learning how to perform proper courtroom objections.
Deciphering the differences between an heir, beneficiary, and successor.
Delving into real estate transactions.
Discovering agency/principal relationships in firms.
Ya know, I’m married to law school now. [ONE MORE YEAR!]
Jag kom, jag såg, erövrade jag.
It is all about Deus Ex right now.
That game is sick. Also, if you have no idea what I am talking about, download the original Deus Ex and the graphics update and prepare to experience one of the greatest games ever. If you do know what I am talking about, why are you not playing Deus Ex: Human Revolution right now?

Uh, also, some soccer stuff...
Also Sporting Kansas City vs LA Galaxy is on FSC on 9/5. In case you have not been reading the articles of myself or Mr. Ryan Gates, we want SKC to lose. As sad as it is, time to root for LA.

LA can do a lot of good for us.
Beat NYRB, Chivas, and Houston for us please.

OT question for you guys
Iron & Wine is playing at Pioneer Courthouse Square soon, and I can’t really afford tickets right now. Any way or area, to hear, if not see, without buying a ticket? Ideas?

Linger on the sidewalk outside the gates
It’s a public sidewalk and they can’t stop you. You won’t be able to see much but you should be able to hear fine as long as you’re positioned in the same direction in which the speakers are pointing.
Anywhere
Anywhere around the square should be good, the buildings around it keep the sound from traveling too far away, so you should be able to hear it. That being said, I&W is pretty whispery, so you may have to strain to hear the dude.

I was trying to find a bar or something near there
Like at Edgefield you can go to the hotel bar and hear but not see the concerts without a ticket.
If I could just get a decent job maybe I wouldn’t have to be so cheap. But I blew all my entertainment budget and then some on the Timbers (absolutely no regrets).
I’m assuming they’ll have the stage on the south side?

They usually have it on the SE corner
hang out over by the Starbucks at the top of the square and you should be good to go.
The new albums a bit funkier
So I should at least be able to pick up the bass.
I’ll just wander around and see what happens.

I think you're overestimating the size of Pioneer Square
it’s really not that big. You should be able to hear pretty much everything.
So where is everybody watching the USMNT match tonight?
I’m going to go to Bottles off of 51st-ish and Freemont. It’s a Timbers Army-managed bar
Blazers win!
I didn't know that Bottles was TA managed
I’ll have to check it out now, as I live pretty close by. I saw the 107ist discount there but I guess I didn’t put 2 & 2 together.
Rough one last night, but at least Wallace scored…
