A 20 year old LB?
I’ll take one. Wallace hasn’t proven after 3 years in MLS that he’s a LB, and Chabala is more of a depth guy. He’s free from Nacional, and, despite what Merritt might be hinting at today about this not being very real, he did ask Valencia to friend him so he could DM him. I’d be very interested in a prospect like that.
Or follow him
Or whatever the proper term for twitter linkage is.
Another bilingual!
I’m partially trilingual, but the bilingual status is quite solid but in an area of little demand.

Trying to be Trilingual
I am bilingual (Russian) and have tried repeatedly to do the tri (Japanese solid but not fluent, Italian same)…but I have a new method. My daughter is 1 year old and she is learning Kazakh in addition to English and Russian…and I am trying to learn with her. Needless to say she is faster at picking it up…I cannot even keep up with the cartoons. Crap!
Wonderful!
My extended family is quite the polyglot group. We cover a many major languages. [English, Spanish, French, Japanese, Russian, Ukrainian, Hindi, Marati, Swedish]

English is actually my second language
learned it when I was 6-7 years old. My parents are Cuban immigrants and I was born in Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood and as anyone can tell you that’s been there (or pretty much anywhere else in South Florida) English is more of a secondary language there.
I can understand French and Italian fairly well also, and I’ve been trying to learn the former in spurts from time to time too.
GCA

Heard Futty received green card. Perlaza and Chara very close to receiving theirs.

Perlaza and Chara surprise me
We all thought Futty was one. Darlington must not matter (either has GC already or has refugee status so either way should not take up an int’l spot per MLS rules as others have mentioned on this board).
I thought it would take longer than one year “working” in the US to get a GC though so Chara and Perlaza are pleasant surprises. If this is true then it would seem that all MLS internationals after one or two years would get their GC and open up int’l roster spots for all teams right?
Where in the world
Is it stated Nagbe has “refugee” status? He doesn’t!!!! That’s been stated on this website at least 3 or 4 times. He had a P-1 visa last year, which means he had no official US immigration status. He MAYBE has a green card this year (though MP tweeted 2 have them with another on the way and a fourth possible, which really doesn’t fit very well with Arnold’s comment), and will for sure have it once he is married.
Montero got his after 2 years, which I thought was VERY quick. Maybe they are figuring out a way of speeding them up.
Odd that Eddie Johnson, Kalif and Marcelin wouldn’t have them beat. Figure one of them is the other one that came off the international spot.
Yes....
But….he was here for 2010 and for 2011….so he’s been in Portland for 2 years, where Chara and Perlaza are less than 12 months at this point.
Eddie played for the Aztex in Austin Tx for 2 years before spending 2011 with us, and Kalif has been here for 2010 and 2011.
I’d think Futty and Eddie were the two that got the GC; Marcelin and maybe Nagbe or Palmer are close (although perhaps Nagbe officially got married and will wait for the ceremony for later? Not sure what the timing is for sure for marriage green cards, though I’ve heard 3 months in some places), leaving Kalif, Gleeson and our Colombian contingent as our intls at this point, with perhaps all of them (except Valencia and Mosquera) coming off next year, though that’s just an educated guess.
I'm gonna go there
Knowing Futty’s infrequent foul rate, I’m guessing that’ll be the last card he receives all year.
…yuk yuk…
