Too often we see Beckham being credited for 10 new stadiums, great attendance, or adding 7 solid new teams to MLS. He didn't negotiate any of those contracts to build stadiums, raise capital for steel, or look at the financial accounts of the new owners, but he did cause teams to develop an identity in the wake of the Beckham Rule AEG lobbied to create. Also, in fans' own minds they demanded results rather than just their team seeking to have a star, which bolstered the maturity of the fan base across MLS. Good read.
