MLS Working with USL-Pro on Reserve League Integration
NASN reports that MLS and USL-Pro are working to create a third-tier reserve league using existing USL-Pro sides as well as new teams, beginning this season, with full integration by 2014. Since there is no USL-Pro side in the Northwest, it seems likely that a third-tier team will be coming to Portland as well and if they play a similar schedule to that is currently played at that level, then we are looking at the Reserves going from 10 matches to 24, which would be an immense help in developing younger players by giving them actual game time instead of just practices, friendlies, and the occasional reserve league match.
