Rodney Wallace appeared on the list, but was not announced by the Timbers as having been released. - George Frey
Major League Soccer has released a preliminary list of league players who will be involved in the first round of the Re-Entry Draft later this week.
Despite reports stating the list wouldn't be unveiled until this Wednesday, MLS has decided to release the names of players who have the option to be on the Re-Entry Draft. The list currently includes three Portland Timbers players:
- Steve Purdy
- Lovel Palmer
- Rodney Wallace
The first two players should come as no surprise given that the Portland Timbers announced their departure earlier today. Rodney Wallace, however, will probably come as a bit of a surprise. The truth of the matter is that Rodney Wallace's contract is probably being renegotiated to bring down his current 6 figure salary. MLS automatically put his name on the list because a new contract has yet to be signed, but the Timbers have until Thursday to finalize any deal.
Aside from that little snafu, are there any future Timbers you see on the list? We'll have some of our thoughts on the Re-Entry Draft pool later this week.
