Premise 1: So far this year it seems to me about 95% of our attack has been up the wings...I would like to see more come through the middle.
Premise 2:Chara (as a central mid) and Nagbe (as a withdrawn forward) are the two players (with Kalif and Songo'o pinching in) best suited to provide it. As the year went on last year Chara got better and better. He also got more and more forward and I think those two things are related. I want to see Chara get more forward than he has during the first three games. He was phenomenal last year when he was the guy who pulled the strings on counter attacks. I come at this with the belief that Chara has to start as a central mid and we should have another more defensive minded central mid starting with him positioned further back on the pitch. We seem to have two options to fill that role: Jewsbury and Marcelin.I like Marcelin because he is more disciplined in staying back and he covers more ground than Jewsbury...thus allowing Chara more flexibility getting forward into the attack.
Off topic thought: I would also throw in Alexander as a central mid option but I do not think he is ideally suited as the more defensive minded in a central mid pair...I see Alexander (or Nagbe) starting in a CAM role in front of two CDMs in a bucket formation in a 4-5-1...but that is for another discussion.
