First, the obligatory shoutout to John Strong and Travis Clark on Twitter, but apparently Bornstein has been placed on the transfer list for Tigres, meaning there's a chance he could be on the move. Mexico's season is drawing to a close, and Bornstein has not been seeing a ton of playing time down there, with only 7 appearances last season.
This is worth watching, of course, because the Timbers still have Bornstein's MLS rights, meaning should he ever return to MLS, the Timbers would have the exclusive chance to sign or trade him. Bornstein is a left back, which is not as huge of a need anymore since Smith's arrival, but Bornstein is a fringe USMNT player, and one who has significant experience in MLS, with 38 caps to date.
So what's the thought? Do you think the front office should make a run at trying to sign Bornstein? Or do you think there's a chance he might want to return to MLS? Or try and trade his rights away, much like Montreal did with Eddie Johnson? Either way, it's definitely a situation worth keeping an eye on, and hopefully more news will come out soon
