Why aren't the Timbers getting in on the lotteries?

The Timbers aren't one of eight teams in the weighted lottery for Marcus Tracy. Just as we weren't one of the teams in the hat for Kamani Hill or Lee Nguyen.

But why?

Hill and Nguyen were awarded to teams before we knew we sucked, and actually thought we were going to be good. But even given that, I don't understand why the Timbers wouldn't use their high position wrt these drawings to gather assets. Even if we don't believe these players could help, they could be traded for draft picks, allocation, international slots, pieces or whatever.

Is the risk of winning and missing out on the next drawing that great? There are guys on this roster we could drop if we were unable to move one of these players or wanted to keep them.

I personally think we need to use the roster construction leverage we have sucked into as much as possible. I've said it a few times, but I really hope we can use our allocation spot (we are at 5 right now) before it resets. I'd rather reset from the bottom to number 3 or 4 than from number 5.

Alright guys, I don't believe I have to say this but, just in case, please do not submit anything racist, homophobic, sexist or otherwise not appropriate for even the younger Timbers fans.
