Rodney Wallace's goal helped Costa Rica reach the finals of the Copa Centroamericana.

The CONCACAF Gold Cup is played every two years and to secure a spot in the Gold Cup teams from the Caribbean and Central America have to play well in their respective sub tournaments. The United States, Mexico and even Canada automatically qualify because they are they only three teams that make up the North American Zone.

The qualification process is one reason why Rodney Wallace is currently not at the Timbers' preseason training camp as he is currently playing for Costa Rica in the Copa Centroamericana. Costa Rica advanced to the Semi-Finals against Belize Friday night and where scoreless at the half. In the 72nd minute Rodney Wallace scored the only goal of the game to propel his team to the finals against Honduras. The Championship game will be held on January 27th at 3:00 PM.

Congrats to Rodney Wallace as he continues to score for Costa Rica. As soon as I find video of the goal I will post it. The Mike Donovan provided all of us with the link to the goal (highlight starts at the 2:28 mark):

As a refresher here is another goal Wallace scored for Costa Rica:
