FREE AGENCY OFFICIALLY BEGINS FOR THE NWSL

As published in "The Equalizer" by Meg Linehan, the eight teams in the NWSL are now free to sign four players until January 31st.

Since the Portland Thorns are interested in acquiring Allie Long, that would open three more roster spots. Teams will be able to sign both American players and internationals, though they can only employ two internationals out of the four free agents allowed, beyond the allocated players from Mexico and Canada.

As the window for free agency closes on January 31st, the eight teams will be able to finish filling their roster with 20 players via a supplemental draft. Word on when that draft might take place has not been announced as of yet.
