SB Nation and Comcast's XFINITY have partnered up in an attempt to find the next big social media, sports reporting star for the cable network. Essentially they're going about this by way of an "audition" of sorts. Seeing as some of you are interested in this sort of thing, and it would be very cool to have a Portland Timbers fan in this position, I figured I would pass along the details.
XFINITY is looking for the next voice of Xfinitysports. The Ultimate Sports Social Media Job presented by XFINITY, provides fans the opportunity to become the next sports social media star. The winner will share behind-the-scenes stories and news with more than15,000 followers, from the biggest sporting events over the next year.
Applicants are asked to create a short video and statement detailingwhy they should be the next person to take over the @XFINITYSportshandle. Eight Semi-finalists will be catapulted to the next round basedon their outstanding submissions, but the final two Semi-finalist spotswill be awarded to two of ten Wild Card contestants. Fans will have theopportunity to vote for one of the ten Wild Cards, to send to the nextround. Once selected, the skills of the 10 Semi-finalists will be put to thetest in a full scale social media evaluation at XFINITY Live! in Philadelphia.The top scoring five contestants will then receive the opportunity to visitan XFINITY partner team to act as a reporter and share their experiencewith their fans. Ultimately from the five Finalists, the new voice of XFINTIYSports will be selected.
It looks like video submissions are being accepted through February 18th, so that should give you some time to get organized and submit something very cool.
