Preseason Tournament Match Thread: Portland Timbers vs. San Jose Earthquakes

Steve Dykes

The Portland Timbers kick off their preseason tournament with a match against Western Conference rivals, the San Jose Earthquakes.

The first home game at Jeld-Wen Field. The excitement is in the air. The weather is, well, typically Portland. Regardless, as of today, the Portland Timbers will be playing week in, week out (aside from a couple weeks). While these games ultimately don't count towards the final point count, for all intents and purposes, the Portland Timbers 2013 season begins this evening.

Here's all the information for tonight's game:

General Information

Watch it on: Live stream below or PortlandTimbers.com

Kick off: 5:00 pm at Jeld-Wen Field

San Jose Earthquakes: Finished 1st in the West in 2012

Portland Timbers: Finished 8th in the West in 2012

Final Thoughts

Today not only features the Portland Timbers, but also AIK vs. FC Dallas. While it might not be the game you're most looking forward to, it should serve as a nice preview of what the Timbers can expect in the coming week, as well as the upcoming season (for FC Dallas). If you can make it to the game, it should prove to be fairly exciting.

Aside from that, I hope everybody enjoys being back at the Jelly. It's been far too long since we were last there.
