My thoughts from the vs. San Jose game last night:
1. Futty was damn solid. While Silvestre does make his fellow CB (and entire backline) better, Futty was very solid in his own right. I think he earned a 2nd start against Lenny.
2a. KAH had a very solid game but if Valeri comes back I think he should be the odd man out. Part of me thinks Wallace but after looking at the heat maps of the two Wallace stays very wide and back while KAH as we all know slides into the middle a lot and while he is improving, also does not track back as well as Wallace. If Valeri is back I want him and Nagbe to be the guys in the middle and not clutter too much with KAH added to that mix and then the very good combo of Wallace+Mikey on the L and Nagbe in front of Jack (who stays back a bit more than Harrington) on the L can still work well.
2b. If Valeri does not come back I would not mind Porter putting Piquionne on for KAH and moving a bit more to a 4-4-2, again not because KAH played poorly (and indeed benching him after two solid games might send the wrong signal to him) but to changes things up a bit as we play SJ twice in one week and add something different (possibility of sending in crosses for headed goals and another tall guy to defend SJ set pieces).
3. Keep the WJ+Chara combo in the middle of the field. Jewsbury has been solid at RB and so if Porter wants to get him on the field it should be there. Not in front of the back line which forces Chara out wide or to the bench.
My starting XI is below assuming Valeri is back. What is yours?
