I have loved having these, and while I don't want to step on Portlandpete's toes, decisions need to be made before tomorrow's game! Here are some things I am considering in setting up my lineup:
Both Sporting KC and NYRB have TWO games this week. For those of us participating in MLS Fantasy for the first time, the answer is: yes, these players will receive points from BOTH games. Take advantage and stack your teams. I went ahead and took an 8 point penalty to get two additional transfers. If those two players both play at least 60 minutes in each game, and do nothing else, I'll break even. Hopefully they'll do much more.
Who should your captain be?
The MLS fantasy update suggested Jamison Olave from NYRB. Two 90 minute showings and two clean sheets would be worth 24 points. Not too shabby! Not to mention, he is highly likely to continue getting defensive bonuses and may even get a goal in again.
Thierry Henry has been in good form recently. Each goal scored would be worth 10 points. How many can he manage? The first game vs. SKC will be harder than the second, but you might feel he has more than two in him for the week.
Graham Zusi anyone? Not even an honorable mention from MLS, the Zooster is no trifling matter. He has put in quite the performance so far this season, and it may be worth betting on it continuing.
One potential injury to note: Robbie Keane may still be out this week following an ankle knock during national duty. If so, that may mean Mike Magee gets a start alongside Donovan. I'm taking a gamble here since I have yet to cash him in from when he was more consistently earning me huge points.
And a last thought for those of you with Fabian Espindola on your rosters. He came on the last game as a late sub after being out the previous two weeks with a hammy. With NYRB playing two games, I expect we will see a lot more of him this week. Should he be your captain? Lets just say he isn't mine.
Cheers, and Portlandpete, please add your valuable analysis and insights as you have time!
