Portland Thorns FC Defeat Washington Spirit 2-nil

The Portland Thorns overcame their lackluster performance on Thursday to beat the Spirit 2-nil.

There's the Portland Thorns squad that we all remember from before Thursday. While it certainly wasn't a perfect game, the Thorns confidently won 2-nil over the Washington Spirit. While some players had a better game than others, overall I would say that the quality of the Thorns' game was a marked improvement.

The goals came by way of Christine Sinclair and Alex Morgan, as one would expect. Both had a number of other chances as well. Morgan, for her part, definitely had the most chances. After losing a one on one with the Spirit's keeper earlier in the match, she overcame and managed to slot one home to bring the Thorns up 2-nil.

Nikki Washington, on the other hand, seemed completely lost and off touch the entire game. When she was finally subbed off for Wetzel it was like night and day. Wetzel actually got the assist on that Morgan goal.

One final note, today's stream was MUCH better than Thursday's. not sure what they did to fix it, but I hope they keep it up.

What did you think of the Thorns' performance today?
