Portland Timbers bludgeon their way around the pitch

UPDATE

The original listener that told me about this story contacted the BBC to let them know of his dismay. While they didn't state his name correctly, the fact that they read his whole comment is truly amazing.

Tune in at the 48 minute mark. He had some nice things to say about Valeri, Nagbe, & Ricketts

I'll let the originator identify himself in the comments if he wishes.

Original Post

A BBC Radio 4 show called "PM" had a story today about Beckham bringing soccer to Miami. They interviewed young Miami soccer players and asked which teams they followed. Most said Barcelona and none mentioned an MLS team. The explanation given by the BBC reporter was "Why watch say the Portland Timbers bludgeon their way around the pitch, when you can rejoice in the artistry of say Real Madrid".

I personally think they should have used San Jose for an example of bludgeoning. While its great for name recognition in the UK, I don't think the characterization of the Timbers style of play as "bludgeoning" is fair.
