Non-Timber Related Preseason Time Waster: The Death of FanShots FanPost

Long Live the Memory of FanShots!

You know they exist, right?

Let me zoom out and show you where they can be found. MS Paint job used for effect:

Even zooming out to 25% on this 23'' monitor (with AdBlock) can't even show where the FanShots are located.

Once a prominent place for quickly posting Timbers photos and links, it has been relegated to a side bar well below the most current articles posted by Stumptown Footy writers. It used to be that sometime before the current layout FanShots and FanPosts were just under the top articles -- front and center. However, SB Nation via Vox Media, while offering community input tools, wanted to focus on the writing caliber of its main blog writers and improve the ability of mobile platforms to access this site without having to subject themselves to a mobile only site. Basically ending two separate versions of the same site. Aesthetics were more pleasing as well. What got lost was the fan input. Pushed to the side. Not that we don't have great writers and photographers for this site, but it changed the dynamic.

FanShots used to be cool. Hip. Ebullient. (Yeah, I went there with SAT words) Now they barely get a rec or two. Commenting nonexistent. I will admit, I've goaded people into commenting by adding a comment on my own post before. See Ryan take the bait.

Or maybe, just maybe, I post a lot of junk. I just reviewed my FanPost history and I estimate about 80% have zero comments. I thought this was funny recently, but it appears as if few noticed. Pat my own back, I got three recs which is well above the norm.

Is a FanShot worth posting anymore? Double posts galore as well, one appears in the FanShot to be upstaged by a FanPost of the same content. SF Community, thoughts?
