Three MLS teams made it to the CCL Quarterfinals this year. Three went into the away leg with a 1-0 lead. And three fell short of the goal and are left with nothing but regrets....and a barely-started MLS campaign.
CCL is important to Merritt Paulson, as our first game has been included in the season ticket package to ensure the Timbers get their proper home-field support. It seems to be important to many of the fans, especially those looking forward to the away travel.
How do you feel about the upcoming CCL campaign for the Timbers? After having a few looks at the team in the early-going of the season, do you think we are ready for this competition? How far do the Timbers need to advance to meet your expectations? What pieces might Portland need to add in order to get to the later stages?
Personally, I'm hoping that we are ready to make a move for some WC talent this summer. It wouldn't be so bad to have our own Keane-esque player, would it?
