Kit Poll

Greetings everyone! I've been a lurker here for a little bit, and only recently started occasionally posting a little bit ago. Quick background on myself, originally from Pittsburgh, went to Oregon State, lived in Portland a few years postgrad where going to Timbers matches was the cheapest form of sports entertainment around (ahhhhh the A-League, where 20 bucks got you on the sidelines in the Widmer Beer Garden...). I used to play Association Football in my younger days, but I was a Keeper so I wasn't all that involved in the tactical aspects of the game, which is mainly why I lurked and didn't post for so long; you guys like, really know what you're talking about. Anyway, I live in Washington D.C and really want to get a kit to show my Timbers pride around the East Coast and have settled on the new third kit which looks amazing. However, I also want to get it customized with a player on the back. This is where you fine folks come in. I can't seem to decide who to get. I want to get someone who is talented, will be here for a while, and some endearing quality to him like charity work for example. I've narrowed it down to a few and I'll give you the pro/cons for each and leave it up to y'all. Anyway, here are my finalists and my reasoning for each:

Diego Valeri

Super talented. Check. Hasn't been here for a while, but will he remain or will a bigger league come calling? He's 28 so he's likely got one more big contract to cash out on. Will it be with us? That is where I'm at with him. If he signed a long term deal, this would be a little easier. Plus, I don't know a thing about him. Except that he's Argentinian and he's really good at Association Football.

Darlington Nagbe

Super Talented. Check. Been here since 2011 and been steadily improving at a rate of 3 more goals per season which is awesome. At 23, he's entering his physical prime and should only get better, but I have the same problem I have with Valeri. How much longer is he gonna be here? And also, I only know slightly more about him than Valeri and I know nothing about his off pitch exploits since joining Timbers.

Will Johnson

Talented. Captain. Very likeable. Has that leadership quality on the pitch that I really like to see. However there is a contract issue that apparently has come up which worries me. He's in the same boat as Valeri being at 28 and looking for one more big contract. I'd like to think that he'll be sticking around, but the last thing I'd want is to emblazon his name on the back my kit and see him leave for another team. Despite all that, he's the front runner for me.

Rodney Wallace

I admit I am adding him here purely because I live in D.C and would like to give a big "neener neener neener" to La Barra Brava for trading their local boy to us for essentially nothing. Well, that's not the only reason, his equalizer against Seattle in like the 90th minute a few years ago forever immortalized him in my book. The drawback is that he plays for Costa Rica and as a flag waving American Outlaw, I can't stand those diving crybabies.

Michael Harrington

He just seems like a guy I'd want to have a beer with. Super chill, laid back, but one of the top left backs in MLS and even flirting with the USMNT. However, he is more known as a Sporting KC player than a Timbers player, AND with the addition of Villafana, how much longer will Mikey be hanging around?

Steve Zakuani

'Cause suck it Seattle....

Anyway, I appreciate all your input, really hoping to make it back out to Portland for a match, but if not, know that I'll be right there watching our boys on MLS Live.

Alright guys, I don't believe I have to say this but, just in case, please do not submit anything racist, homophobic, sexist or otherwise not appropriate for even the younger Timbers fans.
