Thorns FC: Van Hollebeke injured in USWNT 3-0 defeat of China

The opponents looked very little like the "Steel Roses" of the Nineties, Lauren Holiday played strikerm and Carli Lloyd struck a brace.

Still, the biggest story for Thorns FC fans from last night's international friendly might have been an ankle injury.

In just the third minute Rachel Van Hollebeke was downed by contact. Initially the knock didn't seem critical; Van Hollebeke tried to shake it off, stood, walked, and jogged about the pitch for a short time.

But the injury turned out to be serious enough that she was subbed out for Whitney Engen four minutes later. Van Hollebeke was on the bench after the half and didn't appear to be in pain, and hopefully for Thorns fans she will be ready to face Houston Saturday.

Alright guys, I don't believe I have to say this but, just in case, please do not submit anything racist, homophobic, sexist or otherwise not appropriate for even the younger Timbers fans.
