Met Andrew Weber at Ben & Jerry's during free ice cream day

When you're with friends, time flies and you don't realize you've made it to where you were headed later than you planned until you get there. The line for Free Ice Cream day at the Ben & Jerry's on SW Yamhill was wrapped around the building and it was already after 4pm. I talked to the "bouncer" at the door and he said that if I couldn't get in the door in time, I could try to catch Weber as he came out.

The line moved quicker than we expected. The woman in front of us had only been in PDX for two years and hadn't heard of the Timbers. We saw "Jerry" from Ben & Jerry greeting people in line and being interviewed by local television. When we finally got inside, about 5 minutes before Weber was scheduled to leave, I made the mistake of saying "The ice cream is a perk, but I'm here for you!" pointing at Weber. Everyone chuckled and oo'd and I said "No! I didn't mean it like that!"

Ice cream is my favorite food of all time; it almost doesn't matter what kind. But on this day the ice cream was just a perk, because I'd waited in line to meet my first Timber team member.

Weber has grown in popularity over the past few weeks with Ricketts being out of the last two games on injury and red card suspension. To be honest, I wasn't confident about him when I heard he was taking over, but he's made some really impressive saves since and I was really excited to meet him.

He came around the counter and was kind enough to allow a photo or two to be taken and then I told him I was a big fan and I really appreciated his hard work the past couple of weeks. He was very nice and said thank you, repeatedly.

The rest of my group were excited too, so they also had their photos taken with him. As we left, we thanked him and then we talked about how tall he is.

It hasn't entirely sunk in, but I'm such a fan of the Timber's that I'm unspeakably excited that I met Weber today and will remember it for always. As I've been saying throughout the day, "One Timber down, 14 to go!" I truly hope this is just the beginning of my mission to meet the guys that make me proud to be RCTID.

Alright guys, I don't believe I have to say this but, just in case, please do not submit anything racist, homophobic, sexist or otherwise not appropriate for even the younger Timbers fans.
