Hey guys. To add some more details to my post in the CCL group stage draw article, I have the unique situation of being stationed in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, about 2.5 miles away from the stadium where Olimpia play. I have been here since Sep 2012, so I have some experience about soccer and life in general in Honduras.
I'm guessing that there are a lot of TA who aren't very familiar with our new CCL opponent and where they come from, so I would like to use this fanpost as an open forum where people can ask questions about Olimpia, Tegucigalpa, and Honduras over the next few months. I'm not a fan of or expert on Olimpia, but I have seen them play a fair bit down here (including against SKC in last year's CCL), and I also have a lot of Honduran friends who are huge fans, so I can probably find out most things that you'd want to know if you have a little patience.
Furthermore, as the time approaches, I hope to be able to help out anyone who is thinking about traveling to this match. I work for the US Embassy here and have to travel a fair bit within the country, so I am anxiously awaiting the release of the group stage schedule so I can see if it conflicts with any of my existing obligations. However, all caveats aside, if I am in the city when the Timbers come to town, I will do whatever I can to provide logistical support to any traveling TA that are brave enough to make the trip. Be forewarned, Tegus is a very dangerous place, but if you take appropriate precautions and don't do anything stupid, it is manageable.
Standing by for questions, y vamos Timbers.
