The Portland Timbers U-17/18s learned their group for the 2013-14 U.S. Soccer Development Academy Playoffs (June 23-27, Grand Park – Westfield, Ind.) as U.S. Soccer announced the group draws for the 15/16 and 17/18 age groups.
The Chicago Fire fell into Pot 1 as the (unofficial) four seed for the U-17/18 playoffs. The Fire finished the regular season 19-3-5 with 62 points and 2.30 points/games played. Chicago is led by Notre Dame-bound forward Jeffrey Farina’s 10 goals.
FC Dallas came from Pot 2 as the 11th seed in the playoffs. FCD wrapped up the regular season with a 16-4-6 mark, with 54 points and 2.08 points/games played. United States U-18 National Team member, Coy Craft (’15, North Carolina-commit) has scored a team-high 12 goals for FC Dallas.
The 23rd seed in the playoffs, Charlotte Soccer Academy, drew Group D out of the third pot. Charlotte Soccer Academy earned the fourth wildcard spot in the playoffs with a 21-13-2 mark and 65 points, 1.81 points/games played. Tomas Hilliard-Arce, a central midfielder with 19 goals on the season, leads CSA. Hilliard-Arce is committed to Stanford and has trained with the U20 National Squad of Costa Rica.
The playoffs feature eight groups, with group play to determine the top seed. The top team in each group will advance to the knockout stages, after being seeded before the knockout stage begins.
