I'm a relatively new (three seasons) but proud member of the TA. I make zero claims that I have any deep knowledge about soccer strategy, formations, plays, etc. I'm still trying to not so po'd ever time an off sides is called against the Timbers (I really HATE that rule).
Anyway, after hearing Porter call out his team after losing to SKC for trying another one of their "Captain Comeback" tricks, I immediately thought about how in every sport the coach is saddled with the responsibility to make sure their team comes out ready to play. If this isn't the case with this team, isn't that on Porter? I have started wondering if his "Mr. Cool" demeanor, even how he dresses for games, doesn't subtly set the tone for a team that seems to have a hard time getting going until it's behind. I don't know if MLS has a dress code for coaches, or not, but it seems to be if he'd dump the coat and tie routine and try being more of a cheerleading force on the sidelines it couldn't hurt. If fact, if he'd tat up and wear a tank top and have a couple day's growth of beard that might help, too. This Timbers team needs some sort of a spark, and it seems like Porter's one place that spark needs to come from.
