PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland Timbers today announced that the date for the team’s fourth-round Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup match against Seattle Sounders FC at Starfire Stadium has been rescheduled for Tuesday, June 13, at 7:30 p.m. (Pacific). Originally scheduled to be played Wednesday, June 14, the match has been rescheduled to accommodate the schedules of both teams.
This fourth-round match marks the seventh meeting between the two Cascadia rivals in U.S. Open Cup play, dating back to their first tournament match as second-division sides in 2005.
This may help alleviate a bit of the fixture congestion, not to mention we’re going to see a lot of the Flounders in the upcoming weeks. With the first matchup set to take place this Saturday in Seattle.
