Brief article on Opta stat about passing in the attacking half. Comments are pretty funny.
Kind of surprisngly I hadn't seen this posted here yet so I thought I would share. First of all Caleb Porter got fined for his post game comments about the refs. More interestingly though, Carlos Alvarez (midfielder) of the Chivas was suspended for a couple games. Chivas is honestly one of the few teams where I don't know many of the players so I'm not sure what kind of impact not having Alvarez will make. That being said, this is now their 3rd player that we know of that is gone or suspended for the game this weekend, including and most importantly, Dan Kennedy. They also lost Juan Agudelo this week to the Revs. They did pick up another midfielder on loan from Chivas Guadalajara but I don't think his ITC papers will be processed by Sunday.
The Portland Men on Sports crew takes a tour of the Timbers Army's Fanladen and talk Timbers with Bruce.
Very interesting article I just saw up on reddit. Of particular interest to this blog, the later section of the article talks about the failed Portland move. Sounds like the issues were with the league rules and not our FO, he had nothing but praise for the FO, Paulson, Porter, and the fans.
On Monday, AIK played their first match since the death of goalkeeper Ivan Turina. Here's how he was remembered...
Sad turn of events for a man we saw earlier this year. Let us remember him tonight as we come together for the Timbers.
MLSsoccer.com talks all about turf and its role in the moon game, with plenty of interesting facts about Jeld-Wen from Mike Golub toward the end.
MLSSoccer.com's March to the Match podcast takes a gander at tomorrow's game (starting at 5:20), and Matt Doyle says some pretty bold things about what the Timbers could be capable of this season. I'm not convinced, but it's nice to hear such praise, nonetheless.
The Portland Timbers U23s will host the NPSL's Sacramento Gold in the 1st Round of the US Open Cup at JELD-WEN Field on May 14, 2013 at 7:30.
