Since signing on with the Portland Timbers midway through the 2012 season, Caleb Porter has masterminded one of the most impressive turnarounds in MLS history. From 2012 to 2013, the Timbers have finished 14 spots higher on the table, with 24 more points and a goal differential that has improved by 43 goals, the largest swing in MLS history.
Porter's performance at the helm of the Timbers earned him an overwhelming number of votes in the SB Nation Coach of the Year poll, more than doubling the votes received by Oscar Pareja, his closest competition.
Around these parts most posts are spent discussing Caleb Porter and his personnel choices, formations, preparations, and every other thing we can think of, so instead of rehasing all of that, let's take a look a some photos of Porter in his element: stalking the sidelines.
We at SB Nation were not the only ones with Porter on the mind yesterday. The day saw Jamie Goldberg of the Oregonian publish her profile of the Timbers' coach, Grant Wahl had a profile of his own on offer, and John Canzano aired an extended interview with Porter for KGW.
