In the final moments of the Portland Thorns' match against FC Kansas City, Michelle Betos came forward for a corner with her team down 1-0. When the keeper comes all the way down the field it is a mark of desperation and a move that very, very rarely pans out.
But when it does pan out it is pretty freaking amazing.
Betos's header, a diving blast from around the penalty spot, was almost saved off the line, but the power behind it carried the day as the FCKC defenders could only flail at the ball while referee Brandon Artis blew his whistle, signalling that the ball had cross the line.
Let's all watch this video thirty or forty times and take a moment to appreciate just what happened there.
