No big surprise here given his performances for us during pre-season training and games, but Jorge Perlaza has now been officially signed by the Portland Timbers from Colombian first division side Deportes Tolima.
Jorge Perlaza scored 15 goals in 31 games for Deportes Tolima in 2010 and has so far this off-season scored the first goal against the Seattle Sounders in this past weekend's Cascadia Summit.
"With his athleticism and how tough he plays, we think he is a great fit for the Timbers," said Wilkinson. "He was a tremendous goal scorer last year for Tolima, and he already has shown he has the ability to be the same with Portland this season."
This, in my opinion, is a quality signing. Between Kenny Cooper, Eddie Johnson, Jorge Perlaza, and Bright Dike I'm feeling fairly confident in our striking abilities. Brian Umony is also still on the radar, although he has yet to be officially signed.
