Welcome to our new miniseries! As we head into the off season and the Christmas holiday, we'll be exploring what it would be like to be in the shoes of the various front office head staff. Today kicks off the first part in the series: the Head Coach.
In just about a month, the Portland Timbers will officially welcome their new head coach into the fold: Caleb Porter. It will hopefully prove to be smart move on behalf of the Timbers FO, but really, there's no way to tell right now. That said, however, everybody has a different vision for the Timbers on the field, no more so than the fans.
Here's the scenario:
Instead of Caleb Porter being hired on next month, it's you. You're now the head coach of the Portland Timbers and it's up to you to make the kind of formation, tactical, and player changes to ensure that the Timbers would be able to compete better in 2013.
What do you do?
Please keep in mind the limitations of the head coach. You don't have the authority to fire Gavin Wilkinson, or make sweeping FO changes. This is only for the product on the field.
Also, don't forget to include your pick in the 2013 MLS SuperDraft if you have an opinion!
