According to MLS' website Bornstein has once again been transfer listed after not seeing much time with the first team and Monterrey not making the playoffs. The Portland Timbers currently have Bornstein's MLS rights when they acquired them during the Expansion Draft and according to the MLS roster rules site Portland looks to have rights of first refusal.
He could be an interesting choice if he were able to play right back but I don't see his skills translating to more of a possession based style. However he can get down the line and despite the hatred some USMNT fans feel towards him he was a serviceable outside back in MLS.
Nothing probably will come of it but it is possible Portland may either get Bornstein or someone will trade for him.
