Steven Smith Appreciation Thread

Scott Olmos-US PRESSWIRE

In the chaos of "Bloody Monday" and all of last week's off season news, we never started appreciation threads for the many players leaving the Portland Timbers. So we're doing that this week and we're starting with defender Steven Smith.

Looking back at Smith's season with the Timbers, I'm most grateful for the flawless cross to Kris Boyd for the first goal against Seattle back in June and for his completely botched cross in the last game against Vancouver, which hit Franck Songo'o instead of finding it's way into the box and ultimately turned into Jack Jewsbury's Cascadia Cup-winning goal.

Good luck to Steven Smith, wherever he ends up. Personally, I will miss having him here in Portland.
