Eric Brunner Appreciation Thread

The stalwart defender joined the Portland Timbers side during the 2010 Expansion Draft from the Columbus Crew. Now he's off to the Houston Dynamo.

This is a little later than we usually like, but given the sheer amount of news and rumors we've been covering over the last few weeks, I hope you guys can forgive us.

Anyway, on December 3rd, the Timbers traded Eric Brunner to the Houston Dynamo in exchange for allocation money. It was a pretty sad affair for Timbers fans as he was fairly well liked throughout Portland, despite missing much of the 2012 season due to injuries.

Personally, I'll always remember Brunner for his fire and heart in games. It's one of his best qualities on the field. While he never shaped up to be the star central defender the Timbers desperately needed, he certainly has the potential to be that for Houston. I'll also remember his first ever goal scored for the Portland Timbers against his former club the Columbus Crew as well as contributing to the 3-nil whomping of the LA Galaxy at Jeld-Wen Field in the same year.

Good luck in Houston Eric! We'll certainly miss you here in Portland.
