Portland Timbers Practice Quotes and Notes: More Quotes Than Notes

The Portland Timbers practiced out in Tualatin today ahead of their season opener against the Philadelphia Union. Today's practice was a short one, incluenced by both the rain and the need to be rested for tomorrow night. Unfortunately, as I had to work this morning, I was unable to actually get there in time to witness any actual practicing. Luckily I was able to talk briefly with Kris Boyd before the team departed.

Quotes

Kris Boyd

On his level of readiness for the season opener

I feel ready to go. I'm looking forward to it. Hopefully we'll get off to a successful start tomorrow night.

On what he is looking forward to tomorrow

It is just like with every football player; you want the season to start. You want to start the games. That's just what you do preseason for.

The season starts tomorrow night and we're really looking forward to it.Hopefully we'll put on a performance to get the fans right behind us from the off. It's important to get off to a good start in the season and we're looking forward to it.

On playing his first meaningful game since May

For me it is a relief to get myself back on a football field. I've said in numerous interviews that that was a frustrating time for me in Turkey and I had a few weeks off as well when I was back home. Going around to the shops with the missus on a Saturday afternoon or a Sunday afternoon is not exactly what you want to be doing. You want to be on a football pitch. You want to be scoring goals and hopefully tomorrow night I can get myself back scoring on a regular basis like I've done at Rangers.
