Another Timbers away match, another Timbers away loss. Although the Timbers took longer to collapse than they did against Colorado last week, the final score line was the same. With Geoff unavailable, Ryan, Andy, and I searched and eventually came up with some suitable candidates for the Timbers' Man of the Match.
Ryan - David Horst
He was all over the place and not in a bad way. Yes he is not the most technically gifted CB but he really gives it his all and without him Portland would have lost by a lot more then 3. Just off the top of my head i can think of three tackles or clearances that saved a goal and on a night when poor performances were the norm his stood out.
Diego Chara is my honorable mention as he and Troy Perkins are our most consistent players.

Will - Troy Perkins
Perkins was not to blame for any of Real Salt Lake's three goals and made several solid saves that kept the game from being even more of a mess. When the least objectionable performance on the pitch gets you the MotM award things did not go well.
Darlington Nagbe and David Horst would be my honorable mentions for being the best of the rest on offense and defense respectively.
Andy - Darlington Nagbe
Not because he was necessarily great, and he completely ran out of gas late in the game, but for long stretches of the game he showed the promise that we saw from him early in the season. I think he has steadily upped his game in every match since being taken out of the striker role, and that gives me hope.
Hope's hard to come by these days, so the guy who can provide it is my man of the match.
