Another player gone this week, and so begins the reconstruction period. This time it wasn't necessarily a player who was beloved by fans, but was a player who contributed in the background, often coming on as a substitute in recent games. Still, that's not to say Mike Chabala didn't have a good time here in Portland, and hopefully the fans will remember his contributions to the team since last summer.
Personally, I'll always remember the goal he scored against the LA Galaxy last year in the 3-nil thwomping of the league leaders. He scored the opening goal in that game and contributed to a match that will go down in history as one of the Timbers' best ever performances. He then followed that up by "karate chopping" his log slice in half in front of the Timbers army. For that, I'll always remember him.
Good luck with D.C. United Chewy. Regardless of what's been said in recent days (whether true or not) I hope you viewed your time here in Portland as a great one.
