A reliable source has confirmed to us this afternoon that the Portland Timbers are going to sign a seasoned right back very soon. This would make sense considering that the current right back situation for the Portland Timbers is not where many of us would like it to be.
While we don't yet have a name, the big clue here should be the word "seasoned." This could mean a lot of things, but it definitely means a player who is probably a bit older than what we're used to here in Portland. Additionally, I would wager that it is a seasoned MLS right back.
Our source also confirmed to us that there are a number of players who are "trying out" for that right back position including Sal Zizzo, Brent Richards and Jack Jewsbury. The latter might not be too much of a surprise as Jewsbury played this position numerous times in the past.
We'll be following this closely, but it shouldn't really come as a surprise after Merritt Paulson's tweet early this morning:
off 2 good start on my guess...2/3 so far. Now thinking if we have also signed a defender, might not be revealed til next wk. just a hunch.

Any guesses on who the Timbers are signing?
