Portland Timbers Training Quotes and Notes: Three Points in LA

The Timbers trained today and Futty Danso talked about this weekend's match against Chivas.

The Portland Timbers practiced at their Beaverton training facility today, putting in a long shift before their midweek break tomorrow. Training was open through most of the Timbers' warmups before closing to the press.

After practice wrapped up, Futty Danso talked to the press about the possibility of winning the Western Conference with a win over Chivas USA this Saturday.

Right now all the focus is to get three points in LA. That is one thing that we want to do. It has been three seasons and we haven't gotten a solid three season in LA yet, so that is our main focus this week... I will wait until the final whistle blows and we have three points to talk about that...

With the Timbers winless in LA against both the LA Galaxy and Chivas the Timbers have a goal to concentrate on, according to Futty.

I think it is perfect for us right now. LA is one place that we definitely want to get three points and get that off our back.

Injuries and Absences

Before training was closed, Diego Valeri was riding an exercise bike on the sidelines. Valeri's health is being carefully managed by the team, according to Caleb Porter, as he deals with an adductor strain suffered in August.

Maximiliano Urruti was also on the sidelines today riding an exercise bike. Urruti is being brought back from a hamstring injury that kept him out of last week's game against Real Salt Lake and could keep him out against Chivas USA this weekend as well.

Brad Ring participated in the team warmups today. Ring has been dealing with a bruised foot sustained in practice three weeks ago and has been in and out of warmups since then.

Mikael Sivestre continued to take part in team warmups today as he continues to work his way back to fitness from his early season ACL tear and knee surgery.
