This morning the Portland Timbers held their final training session before taking on Real Salt Lake in the Western Conference Final. The Timbers went through their usual pregame-practice routine, going through some light warm-ups in front of the press before closing practice.
Timbers' midfielder Rodney Wallace talked to the press after practice about the build-up to the big game and how he sleeps the night before an important match.
This week has been a bit different, mentally. It's all I've been thinking about, the game, especially since we had that break the week has been a little bit longer. Everything is just a little bit slower. The day is finally coming, so I am just trying to stay as normal as possible, do the same things that I have been doing all year, and just let everything play out on the field.
When asked if he was sleeping normally ahead of this big match, Donovan Ricketts was much more concise.
Yes.
Injuries and Absences
Diego Valeri trained with the team today after taking part in practice for the last two days. Valeri's ongoing adductor issue has kept him out of training for most of the last two weeks, but Caleb Porter confirmed yesterday that he would be fit to play.
Pa Modou Kah, also confirmed by Porter to be ready to take part in tomorrow's match, was in practice again today as well.
Alvas Powell returned to practice today after missing the last week with the Jamaican national team. Powell played 90' in each of Jamaica's two matches against Trinidad and Tobago over the weekend.
