Nanchoff only played in one regular season game, as a very late sub in the Timbers, 1-0 loss to the Columbus Crew. He also played several games with the Timbers Reserves and in the Copa Verde against Monarcas Morelia, but his most impressive performance was in the fourth round of U.S. Open Cup, where his goal and assist helped the Timbers to a 2-0 win and a spot in the quarterfinals.
In July, Nanchoff was sent on loan to second-division Swedish club Jönköpings Södra IF, where he made 11 appearances, scored two goals, and recorded an assist.

The Timbers have picked up Michael Nanchoff's option for 2014 and while he has a couple teammates ahead of him on depth chart, it's easy to picture him playing a role in the U.S. Open Cup or the CONCACAF Champion's League. He definitely showed some skill and creativity in his appearances for the the Timbers and he also has the bonus of versatility; he seems like someone a coach could probably plug in as a box to box midfielder or as more of winger/wide forward .
