Merritt Paulson took to Twitter this morning to do two things. First he wished Eric Alexander luck in New York, as any good club president would do, and then he hinted that more player news would be coming later this week. While we have no doubt that the Portland Timbers weren't finished building their squad, news coming so soon after the team returned from Arizona is very welcome!
Here is the specific tweet:
Will miss Eric Alexander.Good opportunity for him in NY and wish him success there. More player news this week...

And now it's time to speculate!
Obviously, there are two players trialing with the Timbers who have stood out particularly well: Michael Silvestre and Michael Nanchoff. It wouldn't be surprising to me if both were scooped up. There's also the two players that the Portland Timbers picked up in the 2013 MLS Supplemental Draft. There's been little word on them, however, so it's just as likely they won't be signed.
In terms of outgoing players, if we want to really speculate, there are still a few players worth a bit of value. It wouldn't surprise me at all to see either David Horst or Futty Danso traded away. If Silvestre does get signed, it would give the Timbers 6 centerback defenders. Mosquera could also be a trade target, but I think that's less likely.
We don't know what will happen this week, but it's looking to be exciting nonetheless.
What do you think will happen this week? Who are you expecting to be signed? Are you expecting anymore players to be traded away?
