Tonight the Portland Timbers' preseason tournament returns with a match against another Western Conference rival: FC Dallas. There are a few reasons to pay attention to tonight's game, aside from the fact that the Timbers are playing, of course.
First, according to Will's training report yesterday, the Portland Timbers are set to field an entirely new team tonight along with at least one trialist, Frederic Piquionne. The former French international will be joining the Timbers after departing West Ham United in England.
Here is Will's expected starting line up:
Jake Gleeson; Ryan Kawulok, Futty Danso, Calum Angus, Rodney Wallace; Sal Zizzo,Ben Zemanski, Danny Mwanga, Michael Nanchoff; Jose Adolfo Valencia, Frederic Piquionne
Though don't be surprised if Mikael Silvestre is in there as well.
Second, tonight would be the first time Kenny Cooper has returned to Portland since his departure this time last year. You'll remember that last year's New York Red Bull match was played in New York, not Portland. Keep an eye on him. It will certainly be interesting to see his reaction to the crowd and vice versa.

Final Thoughts
While tonight's match will undoubtedly be fun, don't expect the same kind of performance that we got on Sunday night. Again, this is an entirely new squad and it's expected that Caleb Porter will use this game, combined with Sunday's game, to put together what will most likely be his final starting eleven squad on Saturday.
